This Blood Genomic DNA Isolation Kit is designed for the rapid preparation of genomic DNA from up to 200 uL of whole blood, buffy coat, plasma and serum. Purification is based on spin column chromatography using this proprietary resin as the separation matrix. This resin binds DNA under high salt concentrations and releases the bound DNA under low salt and slightly alkali conditions. The purified genomic DNA is fully digestible with all restriction enzymes tested, and is completely compatible with downstream applications including PCR and Southern Blot analysis.

The Blood Genomic DNA Isolation Kit allows for the isolation of genomic DNA from the blood of various species, including humans. The genomic DNA is preferentially purified from other cellular proteinaceous components. Typical yields of genomic DNA will vary depending on the cell density of the blood sample. Preparation time for a single sample is less than 30 minutes, and each kit contains sufficient materials for 50 preparations.

Two different sources of blood samples were tested and compared with product from a market leader. This Blood Genomic DNA isolation kit was able to demonstrate better DNA yield on 1% TAE agarose gel.

DNA from whole blood of rat ( Δ ) and rabbit (O) were isolated using a market leader (Red) and this Blood Genomic DNA isolation kit (Blue). 2 uL of the DNA was used in a qPCR reaction with 5 srDNA primers. The qPCR was successful in amplifying 5s gene from both the rat and rabbit blood DNA, indicating that the DNA is of a high quality and can be used in sensitive downstream applications.
